Let me tell you something critical about owning your own house: The work literally never ends! You might think that the air conditioning system will work just fine if you regularly replace the air filter, but that’s simply not the case.
In fact, there’s so much work that goes into keeping the heating and air conditioning system in good health, you’d probably be scared away from owning a home altogether! That’s not even getting into the other stuff either, like the plumbing, electrical wiring, or keeping up with construction repairs. Last year, I was dealing with a major headache as the air conditioning system we had decided to stop working. For years prior, I had been replacing the air filter every month just as my dad said I should. To be fair, my dad was changing it so often due to how dirty and polluted the air was around his neighborhood. He lived a few miles from a very busy port, so it was inevitable for him! For me though, I should’ve been more focused on regularly getting the actual A/C unit maintained and tuned up each season. People often think that you don’t need to worry about keeping the air conditioning system in shape during the winter, or the heating system during the summer. This isn’t the case. Both systems, as well as the ventilation ductwork, should be inspected and maintained as necessary throughout the year! Otherwise, you’ll end up like me and need to buy a brand new air conditioning unit for your home.
